Euclea sp. - Euclea delphinii

Euclea sp. - Euclea delphinii
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
July 6, 2016
Size: Forewing ~13mm
Attracted to black light. Is this Euclea nanina or E. delphinii? Maybe someone can tell them apart - let me try with this one. Size matters but I cannot find data for E. nanina.

Moved
Moved from Euclea.

Surprise!
Jason, thank you - so they can be told apart, but how?

delphinii vs nanina
It's not always an easy task, but a couple things help. Size can often sort them: delphinii being larger than nanina, which is always 20mm or less.

The other characteristic which proves reliable in more typical specimens (excludes green forms and brown forms), is the relationship of the green basal patch to the CuA vein: in delphinii the basal green patch is smaller, and only borders the CuA vein or less, not going above it (as on your specimen). In nanina the basal green patch is proportionally larger and goes above the CuA vein.

Hope that helps.
