Drab Condylolomia - Condylolomia participialis

Drab Condylolomia - Condylolomia participialis
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 4, 2007

Identified
by Brian Scholtens at Moth Photographers Group.

Moved
Moved from Moths.

Based on Legs I'd Say No, BUT...........
I'm puzzled by three species: 5538 - Parachma ochracealis, 5566 - Arta statalis, 5571 - Condylolomia participalis. I'll ask Brian Scholtens whether he can give us a key for separating these species. It might be after Labor Day before that happens.

Bob,
when I first saw this one I thought of the boxwood leaftier, because of it's posture. Maybe I should have taken a side view.

Condylolomia
My thoughts are that this looks like a Condylolomia participalis. I'm anxious to see what info Brian can give us. I've seen a fairly consistent color difference, with 5538 having a uniform reddish olive color, 5566 having a uniform reddish color and 5571 going olive-like to reddish (going basal to distal). Also, the transverse lines on 5571 appear to be consistent, though I'm not sure about the lines of the other two. Hopefully Brian can give us something solid by which to distinguish them.
