Melanoplus confusus - male

Melanoplus confusus - Male
Ithaca College Natural Lands, Tompkins County, New York, USA
July 3, 2016
Found two males hopping around in scrubby power line right-of-way. I originally mistook them for M. fasciatus, but later noticed that the cerci didn't look quite right. Checking further, the color pattern, wing length, habitat, early date, and subgenital plate all match up to M. confusus.
