green and red stripe - Trichodes nuttalli
approximately 90 kms north of Winnipeg and several kms. east of L. Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
July 7, 2007
Size: less than one inch
At approximately 11:00 Saturday morning I noticed this bug on a Prairie Rose that was growing in sandy soil on an incline in an open area in the Belair Forest Reserve. Thank you for your help.

Moved
Moved from Trichodes.

Moved
Moved from Trichodes apivorus.
Pattern does not agree well with other images of the species.

Looks like a Checkered Beetle...
in the family Cleridae, maybe Trichodes. Then again, I'm no beetle expert, so I'm just taking a stab on the genus.

Buprestid
beetle?

Too limber :-)
No bup is able to deflex its head/pronotum to such an extent.
