Asterocampa clyton
A couple of things to look at. Spines on the head are different, and there are lots of small spines around the face. Often there is black on the larger spines. The stripes on the body are different - there are more of them, and the diagonal marks on the side are not there (all are basically straight). Also, I've never seen A. celtis in big gregarious groups, and A. clyton is usually found that way (though common single in the last instar).

We have lots of hackberry trees
We have lots of hackberry trees at Bluebonnet Swamp.
We have lots of Hackberry Emperor and Tawny Emperor butterflies.
