Raising Cats.
Hello, after spinning the cocoon the larva over winters and emerges in the spring. Jars are fine for housing the cat, but must be large enough to accommodate the cat and it's source of food, while having room also for a stem to spin onto. Do not punch holes into the lid this is a common misconception and can actually harm the cat.For food the Cecropia feeds commonly on apple, ash, boxelder, as listed in David Wagner's guide. Also many more. Check the web, here is one of many sites on raising cats http://www.butterflyschool.org/teacher/raising.html
Best of luck!
