Sphaerophora on Rose Family flower - Sphaerophoria contigua
6 miles NW Lyons, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
June 23, 2010
Size: BL ~ 7 ,,
This small syrphid was found in the CO foothills on a flower in the Rose Family at 6400' elevation. It somewhat resembles S. contigua. Any help is much appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Sphaerophoria.

Facial stripe is a bit intermediate between S. contigua and S. sulphuripes but the latter is out of range.

S. contigua
Wonderful to get this beautiful little fly to genus! Thanks so much!
