This specimen is a perfect demonstration of the care one must take when identifying Pompilids from photographs. It looks very similar to the metallic blue or green Auplopus and could be confused for that genus in photos. However, it is easily separable under magnification. It was actually netted in the same area as an Auplopus caerulescens subcorticalis.
