Braconid emerges from a caterpillar

Braconid emerges from a caterpillar
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
June 20, 2016
Size: 6-7mm
I thought this was a wasp pupa on the undersurface of an American Beech. I collected and stuck it in a jar. (The above date refers to the collection date.) When I got back from vacation, a tiny wasp had emerged from the "cocoon". I popped it in the freezer (about 10 July). Later, upon close examination, the cocoon turned out to have legs, and there was a gaping hole in one end. I am assuming this is a braconid. The larva was about 6 mm, species not identified. To be donated to the NB Museum.
