Ichneumon? - Gasteruption - male

Ichneumon? - Gasteruption - Male
Thornhill, Ontario, Canada
July 8, 2007
I saw these two days in a row visiting Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota). In this shot, it was taking a break from feeding to clean itself. What a beautiful creature! There's something about the shape of legs like that that feels cartoon-like!

Gasteruption, in the guide here

oh wow
So this isn't an ichneumon at all! I take it this is a male because it lacks an ovipositer?
