from Otte: antennae usually very pale, hind tibiae red to orange with black proximal end, hind femora with black knees with three dark marks on upper marginal area, medial area of hind femora unbanded, forewings usually not reaching end of abdomen; from Capinera: white stripe extending from head along upper pronotum constricted near middle of pronotum.
