Courtenay, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Found resting in flower head near dusk. Located in an open field with forest and houses nearby. Light colored combs noted on hind tibia. I have a photo of the area in somewhat more focus if needed.

Male - Prionyx canadensis
I agree with Chris and he has filmed the females. Your's is a male. YES, PLEASE ADD THE OTHER SHOT!!!!! We only have one confirmed example image, of a male of this species, so far.
The females have a bright red abdomen, much shorter hair on the head and thorax and longer tarsal rake spines on the fore-legs.

Sphecid Wasp
This is likely Prionyx canadensis. Do you happen to have a shot of the abdomen? That would confirm it.
Nice photo though!

No photo of abdomen
Sorry Chris. I do not have photo of its abdomen. And thank you!
