Scopula purata? -
Scopula limboundata
Capon Bridge, Hampshire County, West Virginia, USA
July 16, 2016
The little info I can find suggests this is mainly a coastal species. Does anyone know if this is indeed a Chalky Wave and whether they are likely to be found west of the Blue Ridge.

Scopula
Thanks, I am new to moth ID. If you have a second could you tell me what markings make this look like limboundata.

Well…
I'm not familiar with the species you suggested but the markings look right for
S. limboundata
, which has very variable markings, and there are some differences with the two examples of your suggestion on BugGuide. Additionally, as you mentioned, you seem to be out of range of the species you suggested. However, this is a tough genus, so I'd wait for someone else to confirm any ID.
