Tachinid Fly

Tachinid Fly
Monarch Research Station, Marion, Linn County, Iowa, USA
July 20, 2016
This Tachinid Fly was found in a rearing tent with monarch caterpillars. Is it a possible parasitoid of a monarch butterfly or a parasitoid of a monarch pest? Thanks.

Don't know
It might be a Paradidyma, a genus with no published host records that I know of. Can you get a shot of the thorax and head from above?

Just posted a head/thorax shot. Let me know if you need any other photos. Ir was hard to focus on all of the features under the viewing scope, so let me know if you need anything rephotographed.

Can't tell
In a lateral view of the head, you may see a row of bristles in front of the eye.

Also repeat the shot you just added but moved a half frame towards the rear and refocussed.
