This is probably the most beautiful ladybug I've ever seen.

This is a seemingly uncommon species because it does not seem to be reported very frequently. Thanks for posting it.

You'll be pleased to hear that "venusta" derives from the Latin word for "beautiful"!

Thank you for that ID; I had searched for it in several field guides without success.
I found seven of them clustered under a loose flap of bark on a dead tree.
