Hobbs Conservation Area, Carroll County, Iowa, USA
July 21, 2016
Size: ~2mm
I had been watching the development within this raft of stink bug eggs over several days. Today I found this tiny wasp on the raft and the tops of 3 of the eggs open--not as they would be if a stink bug had hatched out. Any ideas as to the identity of the wasp and what it's up to?

Telenominaeā€¦
This wasp is an egg parasitoid of stink bugs and other insects. It may have just emerged from one of these opened eggs. Likely either Telenomus or Trissolcus.

See reference here.

Telenominae
It will be interesting to see how many of the stink bug eggs have been parasitized--if some of the stink bugs emerge intact. I'll check back on them tomorrow.
