Hover Fly Survey of LA County
Funded by the Santa Monica Mountains (SMM) National Recreation Area, we are conducting a survey of hover flies in Los Angeles County. This is a joint effort by Drs. Brian Brown of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (LACM) and James Hogue of California State University, Northridge (CSUN), with input and help from Chris Thompson (USDA- retired). Besides surveying and databasing the material in local collections, we are also doing field work and sampling with Malaise traps in the SMM area. So far, we have identified about 100 local species.

Syrphidae of Ontario
