Hayhurst's Scallopwing - Staphylus hayhurstii

Hayhurst's Scallopwing - Staphylus hayhurstii
Ozark Mountains, Searcy County, Arkansas, USA
July 8, 2007

Thanks for confirming, Kenneth
This was the first Hayhurst's I've ever seen here. Of course, I haven't always been paying quite so much attention to butterflies. (Marvin)

Moved from Skippers.

That's Like Me....
After chasing Butterflies now, I've started noticing all these great-looking insects in my back yard that must have been there all along. I just never paid attention to them. It's amazing what I can see and learn if I just slow down and look!

Yes
It is a Hayhurst's Scallopwing. Nice specimen and shot! Can you believe I saw three different ones at the same time in my back yard yesterday! The most I've ever seen at one time!
