Range Extension
Moths formerly identified as
N. scitipennis
from your location and west would most likely be
manitou
which was raised to full species status from synonymy of
scitipennis
in recent the MONA Fascicle
(
1
)
. The western limit for
scitipennis
is shown as northwest Iowa. However, this looks good for scitipennis; the gray medial patch on the forewing extends well beyond the pm line and a little beyond CuA2.

Correction
The gray area can extend beyond the pm. line of
manitou
but the pm. line would be better defined and more deeply scalloped.
