underwing or looper moth? - Caenurgina

underwing or looper moth? - Caenurgina
Arenzville, Cass County, Illinois, USA
August 3, 2016
I found this moth on hoary vervain in a degraded sand prairie.

Moved from ID Request.

genus Caenurgina
because the two bands along the forewing do not touch, I would suggest it is Caenurgina erechtea - Forage Looper - Hodges#8739; but this genus is difficult to ID to species level.
