Black bee on rock - Osmia

Black bee on rock - Osmia
Rocky Mountain National Park, Larimer County, Colorado, USA
August 2, 2016
Size: BL ~ 10.5 mm
This guy stayed on the rock for a whole series of photos. When I first saw it I thought it might be a scarab-type beetle with its stout convex thorax, very heavy strong fore legs, and almost rugose venation! Best photo for legs. Note also the very hairy fringe around the thorax, especially across the top. The bees on gumweek did not seem to have such luxuriant hair. Perhaps a male?
