Chalepini? - Microrhopala vittata

Chalepini? - Microrhopala vittata
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
August 2, 2016
Size: 6mm
A plantain leaf was collected on 22 July 2016. It contained a mine with an active larva, which left the leaf after a few days. The adult emerged on 2 August 2016. I can place this species only as far as the Chalepini. Specimen saved.

Third image is leaf with mine, with pupa below.

Moved from Microrhopala.

Moved from Tortoise Beetles and the Hispines.

The host plant is not plantain--probably goldenrod?

Yes, goldenrod
Apparently the early stages of the plant resemble plantain.

New Brunswick beetle expert Reggie Webster viewed this page and a newer image of this beetle and assured me that it is M. vittata, so I am moving it there.

That was my guess--
but there are one or two similar species that I'm not familiar with and I didn't have time to look into it right then.
