Identity
In order to be 100% certain of our identification of this specimen, I suggest you send it to one of us--it will be returned posthaste--so that we can be positive this is not another species that is unknown in Michigan. Josh Basham, Rick Westcott.

Identification
Moved from Metallic Wood-boring Beetles. Albeit this specimen appears atypical--perhaps due in great part to the lighting--it seems to fit B. maculipennis. The only other species in MI that resembles it is B. consularis, and most definitely it is not that species. This image was brought to my attention by Josh Basham, and this is a joint posting from us.
