Hi Jason
Many thanks for your correction. Having examined the images of both species on MPG I am still not clear on how to distinguish the two species and would very much appreciate some guidance. I placed several other "A. velutinana" directly into species a while back and wonder if some of them might also be misidentified.

Unfortunately it all comes do
Unfortunately it all comes down to gestalt. But generally, A. velutinana males are highly variable but typically have the median band darker in the middle or the costal half and is not typically as orange. Argyrotaenia tabulana & A. floridana are either the same species or part of a complex of about 4 different species. I currently have a student investigating this problem.
