Mt Washington hillside seep - Pterostichus

Mt Washington hillside seep - Pterostichus
Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 3, 2007
This year-round hillside seep had a thick, spongey mat of velvety moss and specially suited species, including a big-eyed Elap*hrus ground beetle that Tom caught. Flies and bark lice landed on it and little bugs and carabids prowled its verdant contours.
