This distinctive Digrammia was encountered on the Coal Camp Trail in Sugarite Canyon SP. It matches well some of the images on MPG and fits Ferguson's (2008, p. 306-307)(1) description to a tee: "Fresh specimens have a slight violaceous tint, especially on the FWs; the weak transverse lines on the FW, especially the PM, are in part outlined by a few red or orange-red scales [CWS: pinkish in the present example]...and these are diagnostic for the species when present; the discal spot of the FW is an elongate-oval ring of dark scales." The larval food plant of the species is New Mexico locust, Robinia neomexicana, which is abundant over much of the 5-yr-old fire scar in that park from the 2011 Track Fire.

Negative searches of BG, MPG, BOLD, iNat, and Google Images suggest that these may be the first online photographs of a living specimen of the species. This location is apparently at the eastern edge of the species known range (fide MPG map).
