Asilid - Dasylechia atrox

Asilid - Dasylechia atrox
Pleasant Valley Conservancy SNA, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 14, 2016
I was so excited to see this Laphria-esque robber up on a tree branch above my head. Unfortunately did not have my 180mm lens with me. :(

Think it's Dasylechia atrox. Confirmation appreciated.

citizen science for the win!
Cool! Looks good to me, too. Any more tips on the general habitat or type of vegetation in the area, or more precise coordinates?

habitat description...
can be found here.

Very nice
that this animal is associated with this protected area. Good spot to research this rare beast. One wonders if it is associated with prairie if it uses trees for egg laying or ground associated plants or flower heads.

yes
Wonderful property with its array of habitats, and only about 20 minutes from my home. :)

I would
say that is the fourth state on BG for this insect. Still very cool looking thing.
