Wasp - Philanthus sanbornii - male

Wasp - Philanthus sanbornii - Male
Reed-Turner Woodland Nature Preserve, Lake County, Illinois, USA
July 13, 2007

Moved from Beewolves.

Philanthus sanbornii, male (IL)
Note that the inner margins of the eyes of the male of this species are strongly convergent towards the vertex. Not a common species (at least in Ontario). Nice job!

Male Philanthus beewolf.
Simply outstanding image of a male wasp in the genus Philanthus. For species you will have to wait for a different expert:-)
