Size: about 1cm
A neighbor found these sand covered structures hanging from the wall inside of the garage. After they were swept off of the wall, we could see some kind of arthropod emerging from them. If the structure was touched, the arthropod went back in. We would really like to know what they are as soon as possible. Thank you for any help that you can give us.

Household casebearer?
Looks like a household casebearer to me, sometimes called a plaster bagworm. I always saw these things in my garage growing up as a kid in Florida. Here's a link to the University's of Florida's Featured Creature article regarding this insect.
