Notocyphus dorsalis arizonicus, female - Notocyphus dorsalis - female

Notocyphus dorsalis arizonicus, female - Notocyphus dorsalis - Female
Pima County, Arizona, USA
November 10, 2015
Size: 21mm (greatest length)
This female Notocyphus was reared from an ovum that was deposited on a juvenile Theraphosid. Stages of larval development were documented, and new larval behavioral observations were recorded in photo and video format. A paper that I presented at the 2016 TITAG convention (IECC) will be available on the site soon. This work both corroborates and adds new data to Minch (1979) and Simons' (1989) papers, with new larval behaviors that suggest parasitoid influence over the host spider.
