Omphalocera

Omphalocera
La Luz Canyon, Otero County, New Mexico, USA
August 22, 2016
These larva feed on Berberis haematocarpa in this area. These look like the larva shown for Omphalocera cariosa in Moth Photographers Group, but are much different than the all black larva shown for O. cariosa in Bugguide. They look like the larva shown for Omphalocera munroei. Neither of these species is shown to occur in New Mexico. If I can get an adult, it might mitigate, or add to the confusion.
