Polistes comanchus? - Polistes comanchus - female

Polistes comanchus? - Polistes comanchus - Female
Big Bend National Park, along Croton Spring Trail, Brewster County, Texas, USA
April 15, 2007
Looks like Polistes comanchus from poking around BugGuide. Can anyone confirm?

Found at a small pool in a mostly-dry alkaline stream.

Moved
Moved from Polistes comanchus. I agree with the susbspecies ID. The wings of navaojoe are darker, so are the bases of terga 2-4. Delighted to see this rarely photographed wasp on BG!

Thanks, George & Matthias
Nice to be able to add a new subspecies to BG. It was a pretty impressive wasp, too.

Probably P. comanchus comanchus
This is most likely P. comanchus comanchus, a new subspecies for BG. P. comanchus navajoe doesn't occur in this area as far as I know. I would wait for further confirmation though.
