Polistes apachus? - Polistes flavus - female

Polistes apachus? - Polistes flavus - Female
Big Bend National Park, along the Croton Spring Trail, Brewster County, Texas, USA
April 15, 2007
Looks to be Polistes apachus. Can anyone confirm?

Found at a small pool in a mostly-dry alkaline stream.

P. flavus.
I am relatively certain this is a Polistes flavus, but please wait for Matthias Buck to comment. Great image!

Polistes flavus, female (TX)
I believe the ID is correct even though the reddish markings are relatively extensive.

Thanks!
I figured it had to be either P. apachus or P. flavus, wasn't too sure which...
