Diguetia sp. - I believe she's Diguetia canities? - Diguetia canities - Female
Yucaipa, Riverside County, California, USA
August 24, 2016
Found in the morning while hiking in Crafton Hills.

The spiders were hanging out in their tube-like retreats, but when disturbed, dropped straight to the ground and played dead with their legs curled tightly around their bodies. They blended in quite well with the sand, pebbles, and plant material on the ground, making it very difficult to find them again. I took pictures of the webs of several of these spiders but was only successful in capturing one of the spiders to photograph her. She was returned safely to her web after the pictures were taken - whereupon she promptly dropped straight to the ground and vanished.

Do you have a ventral shot?
They can be very helpful for Diguetia. But I agree, canites is probably accurate.

ventral shot
This is the only ventral shot I was able to get: http://bugguide.net/node/view/1281216

It's not optimal because she was on her side and playing dead at the time.

I think you nailed it.
I'm fairly confident with D. canities, but you may want to wait for an expert just to double check.
