Differential Grasshopper - Melanoplus differentialis - female

Differential Grasshopper - Melanoplus differentialis - Female
Longmeadow, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA
August 24, 2016
Size: 2 in
I believe this is a Differential Grasshopper but I would like confirmation. I have read that they are not seen in New England, but this is where I saw it here in Western MA. Is that a rarity for this area? Although it looks like it is floating in air, it actually landed on my windshield as I was parked on a dirt road. Photo take from inside my car with cell camera.

yes, this is M. differentialis
We have 11 other images from MA here on BG, and I have even seen them in Maine. They do appear to get less common the further north you go, but they are definitely here
