Khyl, I assume you are thinking of Oligocentria lignicolor. I can see why, but the head scales don't look familiar to me and the nose is pointed - not a look I have seen in that Genus. However I found this one on BG. .

Sue, both of these "Sphinx" look more like Cucullia to me. Notice the little black on the inside margin at the base of the wings. Most of the Cucullia that have that mark also have more wing pattern, but you might look in that area. Not your species but in your area. Any more photos of either of your "sphinx"?
