Male megachilid bee - Megachile angelarum - male

Male megachilid bee - Megachile angelarum - Male
Portland , Multnomah County, Oregon, USA
July 16, 2016
Size: 8 mm
I've been meaning to post this one for awhile because it was such an unusual encounter--this male bee was the easiest subject to photograph. He sat on the aster and mostly held still while I tried to photograph him from every angle. If he's the same species as this female Megachile I submitted last month, that'd be really neat. They're new to our pollinator garden this year and he's the first/only small megachilid I've seen visiting a non-Fabaceae flower this year (we occasionally get larger ones (~12-13mm) on the sunflowers and coreopsis.
