I am not knowledgeable at all about bugs. Is the pattern on the wings the best field mark for the picture-winged flies?

Pattern
Generally similar patterns are also found in other families of superfamiliy Tephritoidea (fruit flies and relatives). The details of the pattern are specific to this species.

I try to take pictures of "bugs" to post for my FB friends, who mostly seem to be pretty oblivious about nature. Maybe I can get at least some of them interested.
