Grasshopper - Prumnacris rainierensis - Mount Rainier, Pierce County, Washington, USA August 25, 2016
We saw many individuals with this brown color scheme. I'm guessing they may be the same species because we saw many groups sunning and every group included both brown and green and black individuals.
Going by the info on the bugguide page, I suppose this is the Cascade Timberline Grasshopper Prumnacris rainierensis.
They were abundant on the trail and sunning on rocks and wood near the trail for much of the Skyline Trail and the Golden Gate Trail uphill from the Paradise Visitor's Center.
Not all of my images show the reduced wing, but most do.
