I am informed DNA sequencing is being done to sort out this Sericomyia chalcopyga " complex ".

I`m having trouble with Couplet 13
I`m having trouble with Couplet 13 in Skevington`s key.
a) Abdominal markings with CONCAVE margins? etc.
Definitely Sericomyia. It looks very much like SOME other male images on the S.chalcopyga BugGuide page but....... Maybe Jeff can make some comments on these IDs.

This looks like a male Sericomyia chalcopyga. (western range) The eyes meet at the top of the head. = ♂
