Chauliognathus discus? - Chauliognathus discus - male - female

Chauliognathus discus? - Chauliognathus discus - Male Female
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
September 3, 2016
Dozens of couples of these beetles were mating on flowering plants near the McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre, El Paso, TX 79930. Coordinates: 31.839558, -106.485226. The guys were "busy", but the ladies seemed more interested in their food. I will be submitting two other couples because I see a few minor differences in color patterns, but I suspect all of them are the same species. Please frass the excess or redundancy.
