weevils playing dead

I'm so glad you mentioned that - I found an acorn weevil seemingly "dead" in my house, but was surprised when I set it outside, it ran away. I thought it was probably sick and only fear revived it temporarily, but now I'm consoled that it was probably just playing dead!
I love the "action" in this picture - haha, look at him go! Sorry I can't help with the ID, but thanks for the submission.

Aren't weevils great?

I'm happy to have provided you with peace-of-mind about your weevil situation. I absolutely love these little critters and I get so frustrated every time they pull this trick on me. In the back of my mind I know they're going to do it, but I'm more interested in getting the photograph on the host plant. More often than not they drop to the ground and disappear! Not this time though!

And I too love the action in this shot (though I wish he didn't move so fast so I could get a more focused image!)
