Orientus ishidae
, an introduced species from Japan. I was recently photographing these in my backyard too. Lovely insects. Too bad they're introduced, though.

Maybe some kind of dogwood (
Cornus
)?
I see the resemblance too.

They probably attack a variety of plants, anyway. I find mine on Wayfaring Trees {
Viburnum lantana
).
