Sawfly Larvae - Yellow and Green with Black Head

Sawfly Larvae - Yellow and Green with Black Head
Baton Rouge, Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA
September 2, 2016
Size: about 3/4 inch long
If they are disturbed, they often take this modified coiled mode.
Note that the tail end is raised and the black colored poop looks similar to the head.
(Maybe this attracts a predator to the less vulnerable end?)
The next picture will be another view of the same individual in the same pose.

John
