Nice catch! This might be something very close to Laphystia texensis, but I'm not really sure. (south-central range) Let's wait for some expert help.

Thank you! I thought it was a robber fly. There were a LOT there and I even got some mating. They are tiny little guys. Until I got close, I thought they were small bees. This one was also there, a bit larger, but still quite small: http://bugguide.net/node/view/1291193
