Synorthodes typhedana is larger, FWL=15-16mm, and darker. The two yellow spots on the thorax contrast more strongly with the surrounding darker scales. The reniform and orbicular are less completely ringed in yellow. The yellow st. line is inwardly bordered by triangular black spots and forms a more contrasting pale spot at the dorsal margin.
