black-tipped orange beetle - Rhagonycha fulva

black-tipped orange beetle - Rhagonycha fulva
London, Ontario, Canada
July 14, 2004
Size: about 8 mm
On goldenrod in weedy field. Maybe a Rhagonycha species? Insects of Quebec shows R. excavata having black tarsi and black-tipped wings.

Update: the images from Quebec are actually R. fulva, not R. excavata which is smaller (5-6 mm) and has black elytra.

Rhagonycha fulva
Thanks, Boris. Pat Bouchard verified this as R. fulva today. More info on species page.

Moved from Rhagonycha.

To be checked on species level
for European immigrant R.fulva (compare other picture).
