Agrilus cochisei Knull
Salvador conveyed these specimens to me so I was able to identify them conclusively. This is Agrilus cochisei Knull. This species has been rarely collected since its description in 1948 from 2 specimens from southeastern Arizona. Henry Hespenheide and I collected a few in 1980 in Hidalgo Co., New Mexico, and Rick Westcott and coworkers have reported specimens in the literature from Chihuahua and Durango, Mexico. Thanks Salvador, an extremely nice catch!!

Thank you Norm!
Unless I am confused, this is a new species for BG! I am content with producing a decent photo of even the most common and ordinary bug, but when I stumble onto something rare or provide an image that results in a new BG page, a first-in-state entry, or simply when someone finds value in my images, I derive special satisfaction. Thank you for lending your vast expertise on Metallic Wood-boring beetles to identify images on BG. Contributions by experts of your caliber raise the level of confidence for accurate species determination. This makes my day. Thanks!

Yes, this is a new species for BugGuide! It's always good to add another species and I am very happy to have helped.
