Texas SE Gulf Coast - Doryodes latistriga - female

Texas SE Gulf Coast - Doryodes latistriga - Female
29.042716, -95.419511, Lake Jackson, Brazoria County, Texas, USA
September 13, 2016
Size: ~17mm forewing length
TENTATIVE Image ID by Ed Knudson, Texas Lep Survey as Doryodes spadaria

Specimen sent to him for genitalia dissection.

EDIT 12/20/16: Lafontaine's revision of the genus (2015) doesn't have spadaria in Texas. Possibly latistriga.
EDIT 07/29/19: Removed background post-processed

Moved
Moved from Doryodes.

This and 4 specimens from Brazoria NWR BOLD coded to this taxon.
None are public yet, but two from the NWR can be seen at:
http://v3.boldsystems.org/index.php/Taxbrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=736715

D. broui or tenuistriga
D. latistriga is our of range. At 17 mm, size is not reliable and I think dissection is required to separate broui and tenuistriga.

From LaFontaine (2015)...
"Vesica with rounded, bulging apex with preapical cornuti on left side (Figs 39, 40); Gulf Coast from Alabama to Texas..............................................10
10 Longitudinal forewing stripe broad, sharply defined or diffuse; vesica with position of diverticulum 1 barely raised from curve in vesica; apex of vesica an elongated lobe (Fig. 39)........................................................D. latistriga"

See also Kons & Borth latistriga specimens on BOLD from East Texas.

Ed Knudson has specimen (which unfortunately got lost in mail for 2 weeks so not in tiptop shape) and the last I heard he was conferring with LaFontaine about species.

Nice
I take back my comment. I wonder why the Kons & Borth record was not incorporated in Lafontaine & Sullivan. Maybe it was barcoded after the paper was published? Hope your specimen can be identified.
