Borehole in lotus leaf petiole - Ostrinia penitalis

Borehole on petiole of American lotus leaf, consistent with feeding damage described for the American lotus borer. ID is tentative, based on larva feeding description on BG Info page and the presence of numerous larvae on leaf uppersides that appear to be earlier instars of the same species.
